Red dots with Leupold DPP footprint

The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro (DPP) footprint is a mounting standard for full sized red dots sights. This footprint features four sockets, each measuring 4.2 mm in diameter, positioned at the corners of the mounting surface. While it shares some similarities with the Shield RMSc footprint, the larger socket diameter of the DPP footprint makes direct compatibility between the two suboptimal. Also the footprint is longer and wider compared to the RMSc footprint.

Can you mount a red dot with the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro footprint to your gun?

That depends whether or not there is existing optics ready plate or red dot mount for that very gun, and for the specific footprint. 

Just remember that

• optics ready plates are designed for Optics Ready guns, and
• red dot mounts are designed for classic guns and work as a replacement of rear sight.
